The pupils and teachers in Scoil Mhuire Banríon na hÉireann have worked very hard over the years in all things SCIENCE.
In June 2022 we were awarded our 18th SFI Discovery Primary Science award!
Thanks to all our hard work we can say that we have earned 18 Discover Science & Maths Awards since 2004. These plaques are proudly displayed by the entrance of our school and near the fish tank.
In achieving each DSM plaque we undertook work in all the STEM areas:
- Science
- Technology
- Engineering
- Maths
...and a STEM showcase where our work was on display for the school, teachers and parents.
We are now working towards our 19th award! This year the awards have been renamed to 'Curious Mind' and we are working towards our Gold Award!

We have participated in the Primary Young Scientist exhibition in the RDS on a number of occasions. For the past three years we have participated in the RDS Junior Young Scientist in Mary Immaculate College of Education. Our most recent project in 2018 was entitled 'How Sweet Are You?' and was highly commended.
