October 7th- 11th is Walk to School Week. During this week we celebrate walking as a positive mode of transport for school journeys. As a greenschool we are encouraging our pupils to join with green schools nationwide in walking to school this week. Park and Stride is another option, where you park away from school and walk up from there.( such as the Greenhills, the Community Centre or Woodview Shopping Centre)
Walking to school not only has obvious physical and mental health benefits for our pupils but also reduces carbon emissions from cars which improves air quality, it eases congestion around schools and pupils come to school alert and ready to learn. We would like to remind everyone to always follow the rules of the road when walking to school. Primary school children must be accompanied by ans adult when walking to school.
National Walk to School Day is Wednesday the 9th of October .
