October 2nd-6th is Walk to School Week. During this week we celebrate walking as a positive mode of transport for school journeys .As a greenschool we are encouraging our pupils to join with green schools nationwide in walking to school this week. Park and Stride is another option if you live a great distance from school. Park and Stride is where you park away from the school and walk up from there.(such as the Greenhills, the Community Centre or Woodview Shopping Centre)
Walking to school not only has obvious health benefits for our pupils but also reduces carbon emissions from cars which improves air quality, it eases congestion around schools and pupils come to school alert and ready to learn . We would like to remind everyone to always follow the Road Safety Rules when walking to school. Primary school children must be accompanied by an adult when walking to school.
National Walk to School Day is Wednesday the 4th of October.
