Golden Jubilee Launch

Feast of St. John Bosco Jan 31st 2020
Golden Jubilee Launch

There were great celebrations in Mary Queen of Ireland School on Friday January 31st, as staff and pupils launched their Golden Jubilee Year. How appropriate to mark this milestone in the life of the school on the Feast of St. John Bosco, the founder of the Salesian Order.Mass was celebrated by Fr. Martin Loftus S.D.B.,Fr.Coffey,Fr.O' Sullivan and Fr.Tom Ryan. All the pupils from Junior Infants to 6th Class actively participated in the music, singing, procession of symbols, readings and reflections and it was a truly memorable celebration. Following this there were refreshments served in the school hall which was attended by many parents, former staff, parents and pupils of Mary Queen of Ireland and members of the Caherdavin Community at large, all wishing to reminisce and browse through old photographs and the very first school register, in which the names of the first intake of pupils were so beautifully handwritten by our first principal Sr. Brigid Kennedy R.I.P. on July 1st 1970.To round the morning off, the magnificent Jubilee Cake was cut by two of our former principals, Sr. Betty Baker and Ms.Síle Killeen and by our current principal Ms.Suzanne Cobbe. What a splendid start to our 50th Anniversary !

Comhghairdeas do gach duine is go maire muid an céad !
