In senior infants and first class we have been learning all about caring for our environment. The girls have been looking at compost and learning about reducing waste. Together we sorted items into two groups- items that go into the compost bin and items that do not go into the compost bin. We also looked at our own class compost to make sure that all the items in it were suitable for the compost bin. The main pieces of waste for our school compost are from pieces of fruit- mostly the skin of oranges and bananas and the cores of apples! Damien also showed us where our compost goes in the school garden and how we use it in our school environment throughout the year.
