Be Safe and Be Seen!

All of the Junior Infants in Ms Enright's and Ms Mc Mahon's classes are setting great example wearing their high viz vests! We would like to remind all the children to be safe,be seen and follow the road safety rules and the safe cross code when walking or cycling to school. We would also like to remind them to take extra special care in these dark winter months.

As a Green and Active school we encourage our girls to walk to school when its feasible . For the girls who cycle to school it is most important to wear a helmet and to bring a lock for your bike.In the Summer term we are very fortunate that our local Gardaí take the time to teach our 4th class girls how to cycle safely. We are also very lucky to have Martina our lollipop lady guiding our girls across the busy road beside our school each day!

The Safe Cross Code:

  1. Remember 1 look for a safe place
  2. Don't hurry,stop and wait
  3. Look all around and listen before you cross the road, remember
  4. Let all the traffic past you
  5. Then walking straight across you-
  6. Keep watching !

That's the Safe Cross Code ! Know the Safe Cross Code!
