Christmas Shoebox Appeal Update

Many thanks for such a great response!
Christmas Shoebox Appeal Update

We are delighted with the response we had to the Christmas Shoebox Appeal ! At our last count today,160 shoeboxes were donated. This number far surpassed what we expected and we are truly grateful to you all for your kindness and generosity to this worthy cause. The shoeboxes were collected by the Team Hope representatives in Limerick and will be delivered to children in Eastern Europe and Africa in the coming weeks.

We were so lucky to be visited by our own local hero Sigi Murrihy. Sigi is the mother of our own SNA, Esther, and she comes from Germany. She told the children stories of her time as a child in war-time Germany. Sigi really knows what hardship is so she decided to reach out and help other children in similar situations. For years, Sigi has made up and donated hundreds of Christmas shoeboxes for the needy children in Africa and Eastern Europe. She is a truly amazing lady with an extremely kind heart. The girls were in awe of her generosity! She is an example to us all!

Here you’ll find an interview Sigi did in 2016 all about her wonderful work with the Shoebox Appeal and why she was inspired to get involved.

The Christmas shoeboxes have opened up conversations in our classes about helping others, donating to charity and caring for children in the world who are less fortunate than ourselves.

Thanks again to everybody who supported us with the Shoebox Appeal!
